A list of the high points visited and their elevations is provided at the bottom of this page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. States Visited<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I have visited 41 state high points. Most were actually found, with the following exceptions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Delaware<\/strong> we found a sign by the roadside, but the high point is somewhere in a mobile home park to the west of the road, and no survey marker was found. In Rhode Island<\/strong>, again, we found the sign by the road, but after walking along the ridge top both north and south of the road we never found a survey marker. In Illinois<\/strong>, the high point is on private land and only open to the public a few times a year. Since it was not open when we were there, I took a picture from the road on the west side of the mound. In North Dakota<\/strong>, the high point was fogged in, and we had to use my compass to navigate up to the butte and back to our car. We walked around on top of the butte, but because of the fog did not find the survey marker. In Nevada<\/strong>, there was no defined trail from the trailhead to the ridge line, and we reached the saddle below the summit about 2pm. Unfortunately, by then we ran out of time and had to leave.
